About Us

Over the years, we’ve listened to wounded, injured and seriously ill American service members and their families to learn what they need most – while some challenges are easy to guess, others are hidden, especially the challenges facing family caregivers and other family members. Because we listened, what started out as one emergency hotel stay is now an ever-expanding safety net of programs and services that helps fill the gaps. We fill needs these recuperating soldiers, sailors, and airmen have that aren't met adequately by the military, such as lodging and transportation for visiting family, family caregiver support activities that include networking opportunities, recreational outings, fitness classes and life-skills training. We help military families on base and off to relieve the stress and anxiety of rehabilitation, during their transition to civilian life and after they return to their home communities. If we don't have the resource, we find it.

The Yellow Ribbon Fund provides free of charge:

  • Hotel stays and rental cars for visiting family members.
  • Apartments to keep families together during months or years of outpatient treatment.
  • Family caregiver support including family-oriented events and activities, plus stress-relieving massages, spa visits, dinners out, and more. These activities are offered in the Washington, D.C. and at a growing number of locations across the country.
  • Social events and outings to cultural and sporting events that build confidence and offer relief from the grueling rigors of recovery.
