YRF's Transitional Housing & Transportation

Keeping families together during the recovery process for wounded, ill, and injured service members have always been important to the Yellow Ribbon Fund since it was founded in 2005. Having loved ones at their bedsides encouraging them helps them heal faster and strengthens family bonds. Many wounded warriors are caught in difficult financial situations while after a medical discharge while they wait for the VA benefits to begin. Others are unable to have their children stay with them on base at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center because of changes in base policy. The Yellow Ribbon Fund eases the transition process by providing rental cars, hotel stays and fully-furnished apartments for patients at Walter Reed and Fort Belvoir at no cost to military families.
