Duty+ Devotion 2019 Keynote Speaker
As the wife of General John F. Kelly and a Gold Star Parent, Karen Kelly knows both the joys, challenges, and sometimes heartbreaks that military families face. She will share some of the insights she and her husband of over forty years have learned from their strong bond with the U.S. military. Gen. Kelly's military career spanned decades as he served in the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War, and was the Commander of the United States Southern Command under President Obama. He also served as White House Chief of Staff in the Trump Administration. Gen. and Mrs. Kelly raised three children together and both their sons served in the military. In 2010, their 29 year-old son, 1Lt. Robert M. Kelly, was killed while on patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan. Mrs. Kelly created a scholarship in Robert's memory through the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and has worked tirelessly on behalf of military families.
