Antietam Revisited

Tom Clements, a professor of history and political science in Hagerstown, Maryland, brought the deadly Battle of Antietam back to life again for visitors from Walter Reed on Sarturday, July 5th. Along with other volunteers from the Blue and Gray Education Society, Tom led a group to the scene of the bloodiest single-day battle in American history, with about 23,000 casualties. Highlights of the tour included visiting Sunken Road, Burnside Bridge, and the National Cemetery as well as the lunch and wonderful hospitality provided by members of local churches in Keedysville, Maryland, and the Ruritan Club of Keedysville.
