Ed Bearss Leads Historical Tour of DC
Fifteen injured service members and their families who are recuperating at Walter Reed Army Hospital recently enjoyed a day with renown Civil War historian Ed Bearss. The group, joined by volunteers from the Blue and Gray Education Society and the Yellow Ribbon Fund, braved a cold Saturday on November 24th as Bearss led an excursion through downtown Washington.
Bearss recounted many of the historical scenes that took place in D.C., beginning with a walking tour of Lafayette Square and President's Park. After stopping at Fort Myers for lunch the tour continued through sections of Arlington Cemetery, the Old Soldiers' Home and Lincoln's Cottage, and then Fort Stevens.
