Kathi Bowers Wallis Elected Executive Director

Kathi Wallis ImageThe Yellow Ribbon Fund Board of Directors elected Kathi Bowers Wallis Executive Director of Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. at a meeting on January 25, 2007. Kathi fills the void created by the loss of our first President and CEO, E. Scott Glacken, who passed away suddenly on December 27, 2006.

Jim Bugg, Sr., Chairman of the Board of Directors, welcomed Kathi. “We are very pleased that Kathi Wallis has agreed to lend her great talents to leading the Yellow Ribbon Fund as we seek to improve and expand our Mentorship and Internship Program. Kathi’s experience in managing small business programs is exactly what we need to assure our donors that their contributions will be used for the direct benefit of our wounded warriors and their families.”

Kathi brings to the Yellow Ribbon Fund over 30 years of conceptualizing, developing and managing three successful entrepreneurial businesses while planning and directing the renovation of five separate homes for clients and family. The combination of years of practical business experience, natural organizational skills, high energy levels have led to many accomplishments that make her the right person to lead and manage the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Kathi is a Co-Founder of the Association of Women Business Owners, and she coordinated the effort to make the AWBO a national organization. She chaired the Women’s Small Business Committee of the Small Business Administration and she has served as an advisor to the District of Columbia Commission on the Status of Women. Kathi has participated as a program leader at the Brookings Institute, the Ford Foundation and other organizations and has testified before committees in the U. S. Congress and agencies in the Executive Branch.

Kathi’s businesses have been recognized in the competitive personnel recruitment arena and employment contract negotiation. She has developed and implemented sales, marketing and staff recruitment programs. Her awards include Young Woman of America and the Top Top 10 Women Business Owners in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
