At Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF), our mission would not be possible without the support of our leadership team, donors, and countless supporters across the U.S. In the wake of another successful Yellow Ribbon Ride, we want to spotlight one fundraiser and champion of our cause, whose commitment to Veteran advocacy can be measured by the mile: Lloyd Polmateer.
Owner and CEO of First Financial Group (FFG), Lloyd Polmateer is a longtime friend of Yellow Ribbon Fund who exemplifies the kind of leadership that makes a real difference in the lives of Veterans and their families. A Veteran of the U.S. Air Force himself, Lloyd has spent his post-service career paying it forward for his fellow Veterans through his professional mentorship and generosity. In his post-military career in financial management, he has harnessed his passion for helping all people lead successful financial lives. In 2019, he notably coupled this mentality with his desire to support his fellow Veterans and launched VETSTEPS, a Department of Labor and Veterans Administration approved program which helps military members transition to careers in financial services.
Today, Lloyd serves as a member of YRF’s board of directors and has consistently gone above and beyond in his support for our mission. Under his leadership, FFG has sponsored and hosted our annual Yellow Ribbon Ride for the last three years. This has become a cornerstone event for YRF, offering our supporters a chance to enjoy the great outdoors and ride along beautiful trails in support of wounded Veterans. Each year, Lloyd has directly joined in the festivities, riding alongside many of the Veterans we have previously helped to rehabilitate and keeping that “pay it forward” spirit alive.
YRF Executive Director Gina Harrow shared, “Working with advocates like Lloyd is such a joy and so valuable to our organization, making the very work we do possible. When leaders lend their voices to our cause, the impact is felt in a significant way, translating to direct results for the Veterans we serve.”
Our annual Yellow Ribbon Ride events have earned more than $250K in funds so far, with every dollar used to directly support our Veteran families. We are so grateful to Lloyd, FFG, and all those who have stepped up with their resources and time to facilitate events like these. We look forward to continuing this valued partnership for many years to come!
