Why Donor Support for Our Military Families is More Important Than Ever

Although the war has been declared over, many of service members fall into two categories: are disabled due to a life-long injury during their time in combat or active duty and are overseas on deployments trying to mitigate worldwide ongoing conflicts and maintain peacekeeping missions. Both groups have had numerous injuries, and some are catastrophic.

Wounds, illness and injury greatly impact the service members’ reintegration into civilian life, taking a toll on their mental and emotional well-being, as well as their financial stability.

While the pandemic may have ended the impact of COVID-19 has had ripple effects, especially on military families. They have had to deal with additional stressors such as isolation, quarantine, and disrupted school and work schedules. Some have even lost their jobs or businesses due to the pandemic, which can compound the financial strain already faced by many military families.

Our military families face high rates of mental health difficulties, military families, especially those who have experienced deployments, face higher rates of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This can impact not only the service member but also their spouse and children.

Military families often face frequent moves, especially when an injury or illness occurs that requires specialized treatments in other states, and this may disrupt their children’s education and make it difficult to find quality schools and resources.

Donor support is a key vital need for our military families, and despite the sacrifices made by military families, they often feel undervalued and unsupported. This can lead to feelings of isolation and alienation, making it harder to cope with the challenges they face.

YRF relies on donor support to continue its essential work. Every contribution helps to provide a lifeline to those who have selflessly served our country and their families, who bear the brunt of the sacrifices made. By supporting YRF, donors can make a significant impact on the lives of service members, veterans, and their families.

The challenges faced by our military personnel show no signs of abating, which makes donor support for organizations like YRF even more critical.
