April 6

Dillon Behr is a U.S. Army Green Beret veteran who served with the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan between 2005 and 2008. On April 6, 2008, he was critically wounded during the Battle of Shok Valley after a 7-hour firefight, yet continued to fight alongside his team with extraordinary courage. He was later MEDEVACed and spent two years recovering at Walter Reed before medically retiring in 2010.
Dillon went on to earn a Master’s in Security Studies from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Today, he is an Area Vice President at Risk Placement Services, Inc., specializing in executive lines, cyber risk, and mergers and acquisitions. He has also remained deeply committed to service through fitness, founding a nonprofit CrossFit gym at Walter Reed to support wounded service members and their families. Dillon lives in Falls Church, VA, with his wife, Molly, and their two children, Lillian and James.
Join us on April 6, 2026, for the Patriot CrossFit Challenge—an inspiring fitness event that brings communities together in strength and purpose.
Held in honor of Dillon Behr and the anniversary of his injury, this high-energy challenge invites athletes of all levels to push their limits while honoring the resilience and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes. More than just a workout, this event fuels a greater mission—supporting the Yellow Ribbon Fund in providing critical services like housing, transportation, and essential care to wounded, ill, and injured service members and their families.
