When a service member is wounded, ill or injured and requires hospitalization or rehabilitation, the military provides comprehensive care and support directly to the service member.
However, many families are not located near Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and are faced with logistical and financial difficulties including transportation and housing.
This is where Yellow Ribbon Fund steps in and fills in the gaps of care with two core programs:
Crossroads
Yellow Ribbon Fund provides practical support to post 9/11 active-duty and disabled veteran service members by offering rental cars, hotel stays and fully-furnished apartments at no cost to military families while they are receiving medical treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
*Please note that while our primary focus is on fulfilling requests within Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, we are open to considering requests for other hospitals on a case-by-case basis. Each request will be evaluated individually to determine our ability to assist.
Keystone
Yellow Ribbon Fund empowers families and caregivers by offering recreational and respite events, fitness and wellness activities, life skills training and educational classes, networking, and peer-to-peer support.
These resources have proven to boost morale, promote self-care and resilience, and foster friendships and family bonding.
